Replacing fire hose reels with extinguishers
24 November 2015New French benchmark for external fire control (15/12/2015)
4 April 2016To ensure consistency with new European standard NF EN 12845 of November 2015 that now deals with the subject, an amendment to APSAD rule R1 will be released. This stipulates that the density must be increased by 2.5 L/min/m² per metre over the 4 m limit.
Industrialists and logisticians are frequently faced with the difficulty of finding the right balance between the height of storage buildings and the required sprinkler density following changes to rack types (on single and drive-in racks). The vertical distance between the sprinkler deflector and the top of the storage becomes an overriding factor in this case. It must be between 1 and 4 metres according to rule R1. Over 4 metres, it was common practice to increase the area involved according to the vertical distance and, if necessary, increase the flow rate where the distance exceeds 7 metres.
